uPVC, also known as Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride, is widely used as an alternative to wood and aluminum in the fabrication of frames for doors and windows.  The uPVC frames or profiles were first used in Europe in the 1970s. It gained popularity as a replacement for aluminium windows since aluminium windows were susceptible to condensation.
